Privacy where you need it

Cover the lower window while preserving light and sky above.

Daylight on your terms

Fine-tune the opening instead of choosing only open or closed.

Beautiful from every angle

Tailored fabrication keeps the technology discreet and the fabric central.

A rare custom capability

The shade can meet you in the middle.

Standard Roman shades travel in one direction. Fabritec's top-down/bottom-up construction lets the shade occupy the part of the window where coverage matters most—especially valuable for street-facing rooms, baths, bedrooms, and windows with a view.

Add compatible motorization and the movement becomes effortless. Royal verifies the style, fabric weight, finished dimensions, motor, controls, valance, and mounting depth as one complete system.

Fabritec Roman shade questions

What to know before specifying a fully custom or motorized Roman shade.

Can Fabritec Roman shades be motorized top-down and bottom-up?

Yes. Fabritec’s current Roman shade program states that top-down/bottom-up operation can include motorization. Compatibility still depends on the selected style, finished size, fabric weight, mounting depth, and motor configuration, which Royal verifies before quoting.

What makes this different from a standard motorized Roman shade?

A standard motorized Roman shade lifts from the bottom and stacks at the top. Top-down/bottom-up operation adds independent positioning so the covered portion can be placed higher or lower in the window, giving you much more control over privacy, daylight, and view.

Can I supply my own designer fabric?

Yes. Fabritec specializes in customer’s-own-material fabrication. We review fabric width, weight, repeat, pattern placement, suitability, yardage, lining, and any trim or banding before the order is released.

Which motors and smart-home systems are available?

The program includes compatible Somfy and Rollease Automate systems with battery, low-voltage, and hardwired options. Depending on the motor, controls can include handheld remotes, wall controls, apps, Zigbee, RS485, and broader home-automation integration.

Why are Fabritec Roman shades quote-only?

Every shade is a custom fabrication. Price and feasibility depend on dimensions, style, fabric, lining, operating system, motor, controls, valance, trim, freight, and installation conditions. A written specification protects the finished result and prevents expensive ordering errors.

Does Royal measure and install Fabritec shades in San Diego?

Yes. Royal Window Coverings provides design guidance, professional measurement, specification, ordering, installation, motor setup, and local service throughout San Diego County.
